(Mike Mulholland | MLive.com) Tom Izzo’s son, Steven, has joined the Spartans as a walk-on freshman for the 2019-20 season, a program spokesperson confirmed on Friday. He’s listed on the team’s newly released 2019-20 roster as a 5-foot-8, 150-pound guard from East Lansing and will wear number 13. The younger Izzo played sparingly at Lansing Catholic High School, averaging less than five minutes per game as a senior, and isn’t expected to be a significant on-court contributor for the Spartans. But his presence will be welcomed by his father, who has often over the years lamented the amount of time away from his children required by his job. During last season, Tom Izzo commented multiple times that he looked forward to Steven joining the program in 2019-20 to allow the two to spend more time together.
